I had Naomi on Aug. 2 at 10:45 am by planned C-section.
I went in that morning, washed, blow-dryed, etc., feeling more like I was going on a business trip than to have a baby!
They hooked me to the IV and did all the prep. Then I had to wait for an emergency section to finish. By 9 am they were ready for me.
The section went great, but I had a strange reaction to the spinal anaestetic: I started to retch and vomit because my blood pressure dropped. Here I am, strapped to the table, doing the one thing I most feared: puking in the OR! But the doctor quickly got my blood pressure back to normal, and tehy started surgery. It went well, and Naomi came out yelling.
After some baby-time, my Dh took her to the nursery for weighing and stuff while they closed me up. The Obstetrician was teaching a resident as he closed, and was explaining why he was doing each thing (totally fascinating) when I hear, "And now we'll liposuction away some of the belly fat near the incision, because recent research has shown that speeds up healing time and leads to a cleaner scar line...."
"Wait, you're doing liposuction?" I asked. "Don't take some of the fat, take it all!"
Doc laughed and said he wasn't letting me get off
that easy.
My Dh brought me the baby in the recovery room, and I nursed her right there. I felt great.
And then the nurses started wheeling the bed back to my room.
Well, I threw up from that time until 6 hours later. Ugh. And then, just like that, it was gone. And I've been HG-free ever since.
That's the story. Gotta go feed that baby!
