My birth story...
On Saturday, May 20, my mom, DS and I decided to go shopping. I was not feeling all that great but I needed to just get out of the house. We spent a very relaxing day out and returned that evening. DH spent the day on yard work. When my mom, DS and I returned home, DH needed to go to the store to get a couple of business items. I really was tired but still had a need just to be out of the house. We went to the store and returned home around 8:30 pm that night. I sat down on the couch to watch some tv and rest. At 9:00 pm, I felt like I needed to go to the bathroom so I quickly went. Well, my water broke as I did not stop leaking fluid. I sat there in shock then yelled for my DH. I noticed the show next. DH did not believe me until I told him that the water was not stopping. He quickly called my doula and the Doctor. We then yelled for my mom who was so excited. The Doctor had us go to the hospital as soon as possible.
At the hospital, the nurses checked and noted my water did break. A little while later, my doula arrived. I was 3 cm and 90%. I was not really having any significant contractions yet so we started to walk. It was around 11:00 pm when I started to feel the contractions more and more. I walked a few more times and by 2:00 am, I was in extreme pain. When I was checked around 2:30 am, I was at 5 cm. We walked again. Well, then they hit hard and fast. At 3:00 am, the nurses checked me again and I was at 6 cm. About 10 minutes later, I started feeling pressure and both my doula and nurse looked at me in amazement. They decided to check me again and I was 100% and now at 7-8 cm. I finally gave in and went for the epidural. By the time the epidural was placed, I was in transition and at 10 cm when it started to work (I just should have waited a few more minutes). They called in my Doctor and I pushed 3 times during one contraction. My little girl just came right out. I did have a 2nd degree tear but compared to my birth experience with DS, this one was just wonderful. My BP was up most of the time but has since settled. My DD was smaller than expected but otherwise healthy.
Overall, my HG has subsided. The first morning, I did have one final vomit as I tried to drink but I have felt wonderful ever since. I just cannot believe that we made it through all of this and my family is now complete.
Thank you all so very much for your support and concern throughout the most difficult time in my life. HG was horrible but the end result was worth every last vomit, IV, pump and lack of food I endured for the last 9 months. And now, I am happy to say, I am HG free forever.
Much love and hugs,
