Joshua is here!!

Postby emmasmummy » Apr 15, 2006 5:09 pm

On Wednesday 12 April I delivered Joshua William via c section after a failed induction attempt ...

I knew the hg had gotten worse but I was well and truly dehydrated when I got to theatre and they could not get a line in etc .. I am though hg free forever!! and so very relieved.

I will post the story soon but life with 4 and after a section is very tiring and hectic even with my wonderful dh.

My love to you all

YAY!

Congratulations on bringing Joshua into the world. I can't wait to read more about him.

I'm sorry to read that the induction didn't work, as I know you were hoping to avoid the c/s, but a safe arrival is what is most important, so that much is a really good thing.

Congrats, congrats!

And lovely name, especially for a baby born close to Easter -- but hey, I'm a little biased:  "Joshua" comes from "Jeshua", which is Jesus' true name in Aramaic. It means "He will save his people" in Aramiac.

Hoping you have a happy, easy baby after all your HG battles. Blessings!

Chris,

congratulations! I am so happy for you. cin, that is really neat about the name Joshua. I learned something new today.

Chris, you take it easy. Be sure to rest whenever you can. I know how it is to have a section and so many kids. Not easy to rest, but do whatever you can. Do you have some help? No lifting!

Thank you all so very much ... things are settling down but I still find myself busy as well as taking it very easy post c section ...

Due to a history of difficult delivery last time with broken coccyx from dd number 2 that has fused in front of my birth canal my OB checked on Tuesday last week if he thought Joshua would fit through .. he thought it was gettting risky and offered me and elective c section. I declined and asked if I could trial a labour before he got too much bigger. It was agreed I would go in the next day at 38 plus 3.

When my Ob attempted to break my waters the cord got in the way and nothing could be done to risk of cord prolapse .. I also could not go home and had to stay .. I was offered a section again but asked to wait a bit and be reassessed later in the day ... later on I was 4cm and my Ob broke my waters .. no contractions nothing ... Joshua had a few epsisodes of tachy heart rate and I began to worry ... OB offered me synto after a while but my heart told me that I could go through all that and still maybe have a section if he did not fit ... all my bodily instincts told me to just get him out and that I as not going to labour after all .. all of my past labours have been very hard and fast and this just did not start ... I was so sick as I had to fast after the cord prolapse risk and had been quite sick the 2 days prior as well from hg ... so much so that I was so dry they had so much trouble getting a line in for the c section and had to rapid infuse a bit for me and I was still so sick.

After though I feel so great to be hg free ... My son was so worth it ... as was all my babes or I would not go back I guess.

After all that Joshua was my smallest baby at 6 pound 13.5 ounces (3.1kg) and head 35cm and length 50cm. He is a delight to our life and family and is now whinging for a feed so better go and oblige .... my older kids just say you did a great job growing him MUm .. so nice to hear that from them .. esp when they are older this time than when my other children were born .. they understand so much more now.

I will post a pic when I can I promise.

Thank you again and much love to you all!!!

Wow, Chris, what a story. It sounds like all has worked out very well, and I'm glad that the older kids are so proud of you and their new baby brother. Is it wonderful to be HG free again?

I'm afraid I don't know what's going on with your pic. Hopefully someone else will, so then we can see your precious Joshua.

Take care

Congratulations, Chris!

What a rough time with delivery, but I'm so glad it turned out well, PLUS you didn't have to deal with labor and THEN the section. You did a great job!

Chris,

Congratulations to you and your family. I am sorry that you had to have a section. Honestly though I could not imagine ever having to go through a true labor. Both of mine were c/s, and after listening to some of the labor stories.....well I think I would be a wimp with natural childbirth
Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

Did you use photobucket to post your pic? When you use that website select the IMG tag (the last one down) copy and then paste into your post.

Hugs,
Marie
