I'm O rh-

This would be an intersting theory. My mother actaully questioned it too being she was never this sick with me. But no other women in our family has this blood type that we know of. I think I got mine from my father and he's adopted, so there's no way to find out there.

Wow! This is interesting!

I'm A+
My mom, an HG survivor is A+

I wonder if other blood types aren't responding as much b/c they don't see their group represented? I think this is definitely a worthwhile lead though!

I'm B-
DH B+ ("his blood type and his motto") It helps him remember.
Both boys are B+
I was hoping it might be Rh factor related, but All of the A+ have some what crushed that theory.

I am O+
DH is A+

(We don't know about the one on the way... it depends on if DH is AA, or Ai, but the little one should be either O+ or A+)

I believe that my mother is also O+... not sure what my sis is. But mom had undiagnosed HG... I am convinced of it. She lost 15+ pounds with me and ended up in the hospital for my sis and bro.

Jenney

(for those who are a little shy on their genetics training, AA is two alleles (one from mom and one from dad) of the A marker. Ai is one allele of A and one that has the absence of a marker (understood by everyone as O)

You can have:
AA, Ai - blood type is A
BB, Bi - blood type is B
AB - blood type is AB
ii - blood type is O

whatever you are, you will only give one on...
+/- are just another marker added into the mix (you either have the marker or not)

Enjoy

A- here.

This is really interesting and exciting. This is a really plausible cause for HG - everyone seems to be listing A-, A+ or O. Now we need someone to do a study!

As with everything else, we have to look at the larger picture. A+ and O+ are by far the most common blood types in the US and Northern Europe (75% of the population has one of those two types), so the fact that most of us have those blood types is not all unusual. There are many antigen possibilities, though, and maybe HG is blood-related in that way. Who's volunteering to take blood samples and start researching?

I am an A+, baby is an A+

My mom was an A-, my brothers and myself were A+ (she was sick all 3 pregnancies, but my pregnancy was worse then any of hers- She felt better at start of third trimester) She also dealt with RH factor, but was not treated, for did not know. She lost what would of been the middle age brother 2 days after birth because of it.
