Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, but I'm glad she has you to help her. I don't live in Chicago anymore, but I grew up there. My mom used to teach ob nursing students. Check the websites of major hospitals in her area for the maternal/fetal medicine dept. and/or perinatologists. Call their offices and speak to a nurse/receptionist about whether or not the dr treats many patients with HG. You should be able to get a feel for their ability to help your daughter from such a conversation. You may have to ask her current OB for a referral to a specialist. Don't be afraid to do so. For the NW suburbs I would start with Luthern General. If you don't have any luck, stick with the biggies: Northwestern, Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's, U of I, Loyola, University of Chicago. I know how vast Chicago is and how bad traffic can be so start with those closest to your daughter and work your way outward if necessary.
Good luck!
Hugs,
Meg
