What was the oddest thing you had to have? TOTAL FOODMENT

MAJOR FOODMENT

For me the strangest thing was in my first pg. I HAD to have olives. And I HATED them up until that pg. Then I ate them by the jar. I can still eat them now though. In fact everytime I want them DH thinks I am pg!

In my Second I went for about 2 months on Corn on the cob. It was in season and helped with the Zofran. I HAD to have it.

They say you crave what you need, I get the corn. But what, did the olives mean I need a martini

What about you?

FOODMENT

Erin, I can't believe this. I read your post Topic and the first thought in my head was . . . black olives!! :D I would open a can of black olives, put them in a bowl and place them in the fridge - I could only eat them cold. I don't know how or why, but they stayed down! At least I wasn't the only one!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to eat a one since Maddie was born. :|

Okay, one of my fave foods in the world is black olives.

But my strangest food was Lay's Sour Cream & Onion potato chips with Chocolate milk, while pregnant with tatyana. With Colton it was scrambled eggs, and I don't like eggs. With Cassidy, nothing unusual, but I did eat a lot of cucumbers. This of course, was towards the end of all three pregnancies.

I HATE olives :sickfast:.

With John it was steak. Which is weird because I hated steak. Never really was a big fan of meat but especially steak. The love of steak stuck around and I like it now. My husband loved me having that craving.

FOODMENTS * * * * *
There are lots of odd foodments that I've eaten, but very few that I've actually craved.

Oranges. I ate so many oranges last month. You would think that all the acid would make me feel worse, but it didn't. And they were one of the few things that tasted both healthy and like what they were supposed to taste like pre-hg.

Cake. I actually started having dreams about wedding and birthday cakes. I still crave any type of cake but I am trying really hard to limit my sugar intake. But on bad days, I eat a lot of cake and cookies and very little of anything else :(

Lofthouse sugar cookies. I could eat the whole conatiner in one sitting. Again, not healthy!!

Again, FOODMENT

Postby PamelaRose » Oct 29, 2007 10:46 pm

One of the first things I craved when I finally turned a corner and could think about food again was tuna salad sandwiches and tomato soup. It was the first thing I ate in weeks with HGs 1 and 2. With Brody, I ate lots of cheese at the end. With Ava, salads fresh from our garden. With Rei, about all I could handle was cereal. That sucked. Odd cravings during HG? With one of them my aunt owned an ice cream shop and I went through lots of soft-serve. With another, I had a fish sandwich from McDonald's every day for a week, and before that a ham and cheese sub from Subway daily for a week. And potatoes--with all of them I went through stages of potato-eating.

And it's just occurred to me why I kept losing weight despite not puking with the last pg. That 6" sub every day was all I managed to eat, and I don't suppose that's near caloric requirements. Fantastic for active HG, but not enough to offset calories lost to battling illness. :?

When pg with Tree all I could stand to eat was Mexican Food (I really liked Taco Bell). That continued being a favorite through each pregnancy but with Tree that was all I could stand early on.

With all three I absolutely craved (I mean really craved) any citrus fruit. I could eat it all day long.

When HG was at its worse with Em the first foods I wanted to eat were French Toast and also apples.

Weird what we want and what works.

Oranges. I ate so many oranges last month

I craved oranges one night during my first pregnancy. It was the most intense craving ever. I thought I was going to die if I didn't get an orange and all the stores were closed.

I did the orange thing to with my 2nd pregnancy!

The thing that kept me alive was mash potato with grated cheese mixed in, or some noodles! When I could eat, that's what I had. :D (

Not oranges, but tangerines. Loath them now. Blech

My strangest craving/desperate need was a PBJ with crispy cheetos on it. Seriously, HG messed with my body, lol.

You're all making me hungry, except for the pbj and cheetos. Yuck! The only thing I wanted during my entire 2nd pregnancy was lime flavored Perrier. We bought out the closest 3 grocery stores every week. It was the only thing I could keep down. I'll NEVER drink it again!!!!!

A few weeks ago I had some really strong cravings. One day, it was chips and guacamole from Chipotle's. Another day, a taco from Chipotle, and another day it was onion rings. This week I developed a craving for a dish I cannot find anywhere, it is sometimes the Chef's special at the hospital I work at. It is a chorizo (mexican sausage) quesadilla made with cubed potatoes with salsa and sour cream on the side. I probably would only be able to take a few bites of it though. But I cannot find any restaurant around that makes this dish. That is frustrating! I would do anything just for a bite...because thats all it would take to make this craving go away.

Only craving with Chris was juicy fruit gum...HAD to have it...walked to Walmart (next door) at like midnight.

With Jack, had to have green olives...always have loved them...but I also did some NASTY olive combinations...like cracker jacks and green olives. :sickfast: :sickfast:

Hmmm, I'm thinking olives and Cracker Jack just may take the prize...though Cheetos and PBJ is definitely right up there!

Citrus cravings, yes! With the first two, it was grape juice. I was dying for grape juice; I cried piteously for grape juice. And we had it in the house, but I knew there was no way it would stay down, and dh shook his head at me like I was crazy for obsessing about it. Same with orange juice with the girls. DESPERATELY wanted it. Stared at it longingly, but couldn't have it. My body craved it in some inner, molecular core, but my stomach revolted at the thought and my mind knew better...constant struggle. I finally caved and poured a few sips of the forbidden craving right as a new vomiting spree began. I drank, enjoyed the taste, then promptly puked. My husband decided I'd completely lost my mind, but it was SOOOOOOO worth it.
