Help with liquid diet

Postby Where the blacktop ends » Jan 31, 2005 7:01 pm

Okay guys I am running out of ideas!

I have found that I can tolerate in small quantities, boost, yogurt and yogurt type drinks. Sometimes plain soups.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.......

I have seemed to stop vommiting through Zofran, nausea held in control most of the time through phenergan or Tigan, completing a steriods course, and on Zantac.

BUT it hurts to eat food of any solid state...rice, baked potato, eggs, etc. All end up in severe pain, making me wish I hadnt even tried. The only success I have had is the nasty liquid stuff and yogurt. I can manage a half a boost, or half a yogurt at a sitting. I am up to 1 1/2 boost and a yogurt per day.

So since I can not think food, does anyone have suggestions of these type of liquid foods that I can try.

Thank you so much!

I am at week 11 ! So far lost 20lbs, trying not to lose anymore.

Heidi,

I am really sorry that you are struggling this way. If you go to the home page here and there is a link to something along the lines of coping with HG. In this downloadable file is a receipe for a pregnancy shake. It sounds manageable. Also carnation instant shakes may work. Another idea I tried for myself was mixing ice cream or soy ice cream (Soy Delicious vanilla actually tastes like ice cream) with a Boost or Ensure in the blender. As a teenager I worked in the local hospital kitchen/cafeteria and we used to make these shakes for people in need of a caloric boost.

I hope things start to improve for you.
Hugs,
Meg

I Would Try

Vanilla flavored soy milk (it doesn't curdle coming back up) in a smoothie form with maybe a banana or some frozen rasberries and ice. Add some yogurt to sweeten it up.

Heidi,

The recipe I was talking about is in the Survival Guide. You can find it on the home page.

I hope you like it. It's gotten me through some rough mornings this pregnancy.
