Has Anyone Had Any Luck with an SSRI that DOESN'T add to HG?

Postby pippa » May 06, 2005 2:02 pm

Before I got pg, I was taking Effexor. When I wasn't keeping anything down at all, I stopped taking it, and since I have a history of PIH, it wasn't an option to go back on it.

I've tried two? or three since then, and all of them come RIGHT back up when I take them, even if I'm having a good day. Has anyone found ANYTHING that doesn't affect an already prone-to-puking tummy?

Pippa,
I've had basically the same experience, except that last time they gave me "liquid prozac", which stayed down. It still made me nauseated and didn't help with the depression, but it didn't come back up.
Ugh. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks Jane!

They started me on Wellbutrin (which I'm still waiting for it to kick in) and got me an appointment with a "maternal health specialist" which I guess is a nice euphemism for "shrink who can find meds for pg women."

I'll post again if they find anything that works. At least the Wellbutrin doesn't come back up, which is a start. :D

I was on effexor too. There were often times when it just didnt stay down, or I wasnt able to take it.. I know several women here who have taken zoloft, but I dont have any personal experience with it. Hope the Wellabutrin works!

just started Zoloft

Postby IslandDreamer » May 23, 2005 1:21 pm

I just started Zoloft on Saturday...skipped the dosage for yesterday cause nothing would stay down I was so constipated (I know, weird). I can let you know in about two weeks how it went.

Effexor can have some harsh side effects if you are unlucky enough to get them. I was on it last summer for a few weeks....after Hope was m/ced...BAD scene. Other folks love it. But to add to the HG...that's just cruel. I'm so sorry.

The Zoloft came right back up, as did another one... shoot, what was it? It's one of the newer ones that wasn't supposed to do anything stomach-wise.

So far the Wellbutrin isn't doing a darn thing. How long do you think it should take to kick in?
