A real possibility?

We talked to our adoption worker on Friday, to ask him to send our homestudy to PA about a trio of redheads we're interested in (ages 7, 5 & 5) . . . and he told us we'd been on his mind. Evidentally, WA state child protective services called our adoption agency on Thursday, and told them about a couple, who is married, and expecting. They are due in May with a baby boy that they will not be allowed to keep. We really don't know why, yet. They've already had a baby girl taken into custody, and placed in a relative foster placement with the grandmother, which is also where the couple currently lives. The state will not take the baby into foster care if the agency could find a family that would be willing to adopt both siblings. The baby girl is 10 months old right now.

We told them we would be interested, and our profile will be presented to the couple by the adoption agency next week. The adoption agency is hoping that since we've been foster parents in the past, that the state would be comfortable with us as a placement, and turn rights over to the adoption agency, and are hoping that the biological parents are interested in our offer of an open adoption.

Maybe this is finally a real possibility?

Another one dead in the water. The couple with the 10 month old and baby due in May are fighting the state to keep their kids.

The kids in Florida have been removed from their Dad, now, too. So the family asks us to reconsider, and we delay deciding until we found out about the two kids locally, yesterday, and now want to pursue them in Florida. But, in the meantime - just over the weekend, one of the family members who was supportive of us is scared that someone else will get them and not us, so they are trying to decide if they want them instead. They are the social worker's first pick, and could take them, and we would have no say at all. I feel back-stabbed. I suppose I won't stay mad, but I've been mad most of the day. This might take me a while. I just don't understand why they didn't consider this last fall, before ever asking us to adopt the kids. Why now? Why after we've been involved since early Oct? I don't get that.

Ok. Enough from me. I just can't manage to do much more. Sorry to all the posts I'm not reading, I just don't have it in me to do it right now.

I'm so sorry things aren't going well. I cannot begin to imagine how tough it must be to deal with the adoption situation. You are in my prayers as you continue to search for your newest family member/members.

Andy, I'm so sorry. I can only imagine how hard this adoption roller coaster must be. I hope it works out soon.

Huge :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: .

I know it doesn't help, but I am mad for you also. They really should have thought about that sooner.

Thank you, everyone. A friend told me yesterday that this just means that God has something bigger and better for us still. That's a great way to look at this in a way.

Wendy, it really does help to know that you're mad, too. It's nice to know that someone else would have reacted the same way. It really means a lot!

It's just so hard to have so many disappointments.

Andy

I am so sorry hon...

Actually, there is yet another possibility cooking. . .

A boy we were interested in last spring, but didn't think was a possibility after a few months because the birth family, to our knowledge had ceased contact. Well, it seems it took them that long to track the birthmother down. He is just a month or two younger than Adam, in all actuality, and is being raised by his Gma right now, who is the same faith we are. We saw a picture of him yesterday, and he looks just like our kids at the same age, especially Aaron, our oldest.

We are waiting for the family to get an address on the birthmom so that she can be contacted about giving up her rights. In Idaho, a birthmom has to sign before a judge or magistrate. Birthfather already is in favor of the adoption, and actually lives in the next town over. The boy is about 2 hours away.

Interesting. It's stunning how much he looks like the rest of our kids.
