Finally!!!

Postby HelenA » Aug 09, 2005 4:12 am

I have finally managed to persuade DP that another babbie is on the cards in a couple of years!! To begin with he said no more, partly because he is quite a bit older than me and he was worried about not being around for them when they get older, (he's 51) and also he already has 3 grown up children with his ex wife. And The main thing was that he did not want to see me get so sick again. And although I understood where he was coming from I'd had it set in my mind from when I was a little girl that I wanted at least 2 kids. And I felt kinda dejected when he said no more. Everytime I mentioned it in jest he's say "nooooo..." But.... This morning we were sat having a cuppa and he suddenly starts joking around about "next time" I told him that wasn't funny unless he was serious. He then said that he doesn't want to see me get ill again like last time. I reminded him that we didn't even know what it was til 6 months, so by that time the worst of it was over, and I'd had no meds and a trip to hospital. But IF we were to do it again then we'd make sure we had everything planned from the get goand get the meds etc. Anyway after having a long discussion about the pro's and cons of having another he was already talking names!!!!

I'm so chuffed and he seemed just as happy, although it won't be for a couple of years yet. It's just good to know we're on the same page!

Yay, Helen. :D

It is very encouraging for you to have an agreed view of the future.

Congratulations

Yay, Helen! It took me over a year before I could get John to agree to #2, even though we'd both wanted 2 to begin with. It's so hard when you're NOT in agreement about how many children to have - I'm glad you and dp are both feeling the same way now!
