Matthew is here!!

Postby Cheri » Jan 10, 2005 12:55 pm

Hi Everybody!
I've had a hard time getting on here & keeping up, but I just wanted to announce that Matthew is here! He was born on December 13. My Dr. was going to induce me because I was already 6-7 cm, but I went into labor on my own soon after I got to the hospital. (I preferred that to delivering in the car at the side of the road!)

Matthew chose to be a bit difficult in the beginning & we ended up staying a few extra days with him on oxygen. But he is 4 weeks old today, doing great, eating well & putting on weight.

So it looks like hg is something forever in the past for me now. Hard to believe when so much of the last 3 years of my life & revolved around it!!

Congratulations!!! He is precious! I am glad you are home and doing well!

On another note, you were walking around at 6-7 cm? Wow!! I bet that felt strange. :D

Take care!

Hi Kim,
Thanks!

It was interesting! I was walking around slowly progressing farther & farther without even having much for contractions. My Dr. was getting nervous. All of the nurses had heard about me & were just waiting for me to come in! People were scared to be around me & my dh was reading up on emergency deliveries

How are you doing? Are you still substitute teaching? I bet Ainsley is half grown now!!

Ha!! Everyone was afraid to be around you? One of good friends walked around for a month at 5 cm, and when we would shopping, I was terrified she would sneeze or cough and have the baby!!!

Yes, Ainsley is half grown, or at least she thinks she is. She very TWO!! The more fun they get, the more honery they get. She keeps us all laughing!!

Take care and congrats again on that baby boy!!!

Too Funny!

I hadn't known anyone else who was like me. I was walking around at 5 cm for awhile. When I went in for my next OB appointment (4 days early) she insisted I let her strip my membranes to speed it along. I wish she hadn't because my labor would probably have been really quick had I been able to progress on my own. I ended up going from 5 pm until 7 am the next morning instead and having to have pitocin on top of it.

Aryn-Leah,
Nice to know I have some company  But going 5pm-7am must have been a surprise after that! I was afraid I would end up with pitocin too. I'm so glad I avoided it. I had it with my first pg and now I cringe when I hear the word!

Thank you Jacqueline,
Nice to see you around! We have way to much going on around our house right now. (And I thought I was busy back when I had 1 baby :D )

Well I would be delighted to see you have a little Matthew too! I would have never have imagined you would consider another one, but I think it's great! I have been telling Jeff that our Matthew might need a little brother someday  I don't think we're crazy enough to attempt that!

I know you're busy too, but if you ever get a chance, I'd love to see pictures of sweet little Sarah.

Cheri - CONGRATULTAIONS!!!! Matthew looks adorable and perfect. I imagine his sisters are doting on him as I type. How was your recovery? I hope you are feeling well and able to enjoy every moment together.

You have such a big, beautiful family!!! It must feel wonderful to know the hg and ttc stuff is behind. You were on a really rough road for so long.

Take care,

PS Sorry this message is so late.

What!?!? Jacqueline, you sure got my attention with that comment :D Are you seriously considering another go of it?? It is so wonderful to know that despite the terrible issues you faced the second time, it was still a much better experience than the first time. If it tells me anything, it is that even if the treatment doesn't make the hg any better, it can definitely make the post-partum, emotional recovery better. I'm so happy for you.

Is Sarah really going to be 6-months old?! That is so hard to believe. If you get a chance, please send me some new photos.

Hi Jacqueline

How did you manage to get hold of Zofran in Ireland? Did you have to fight for it or is it given routinely?

I am waiting for my Ob appt. and I want to go armed with some ammo!

Thanks

Hi Marla,
You must have heard me thinking about you :D I was wondering how you are doing!

We are doing well. Matthew is a good baby. We are so glad to have him here. And fortunately Megan is really a mellow, easy going little girl too. Nicole & Katie are great helpers and adore their babies. I feel very blessed!

I have to say, though, 2 babies so close together are a LOT of work! Especially when big sisters' activities keep right on going! I feel like I recovered from pregnancy easily (seems like a lifetime ago) but the stress of daily living at the moment is giving my immune system a bit of a challenge.

How are you doing? Have you been feeling better? I bet little Maranda isn't so little anymore! That last picture you sent of her was soo sweet!
