Hi all!
I have been on here for about a month just reading and feeling the exact same as most of you. Im 22y/o and this is my second HG pregnancy. I had my daughter at 17 and had moderate HG that was treated with Zofran (only 4mg at a time), phenergan, b6 and zantac. I had about 12 hospital stays and it lasted from 7wks to 42 when i delivered. My DH wanted another baby so bad but i was terrified to go through this hell again while trying to take care of a toddler. I managed to hold him off until i madenit through nursing school and had a good job until we started trying again. And yes the second month of trying i ended up pregnant.
Im 14 weeks along and this time had been much "different/worse". I started getting sick around 4-5wks. Started on Zofran 8mg three times a day which did nothing at all! Started on the Zofran pump at 6wks and then had my first 4 day hospital stay. Well since then im still on the zofran pump, have a picc line, get 2 liters of IV fluids every day, and am taking an array of other meds. I am also still down 25lbs and can not gain any weight. I am truly starting to feel better on some days and can eat, but still no weight gain.
I didnt know this group was out here but i get on here and feel a bit normal sometimes hearing others stories. Im also having a horrid jealousy issue seeing fluffy prego women. Thanks for listening everyone! Some of you are so strong (ie 4 HG pregnancies) i could never do it!!

Hello, welcome, and congrats on baby #2 and finishing your nursing program!

When did you start gaining weight last pregnancy? It can take quite a long time to stabilize and then start gaining. I too lost 25 lbs by 12 weeks (and I was fairly tall/slim before), and then didn't start gaining any back until after 16 weeks. Even at that, it was very slow, regular gaining until the last couple weeks, then I gained like 5-7 pounds all at once. I'm still about 10 pounds below pre-pregnancy weight at 26 weeks. Last pregnancy followed about the same pattern for me, and I did end up gaining a pretty good amount of weight in the last 12 weeks.

If you're able to drink a few (like 2-4) ensure with extra protein per day, you'll get the nutrition and calories you and baby need. I drank these, ice cold, for weeks. Don't chug them, just sip on them throughout the day. If you are still struggling with not gaining weight back any weight by 18-20 weeks, then maybe your doc can recommend TPN or and NG tube, but hopefully you won't need that? I call ensure "TPN in a bottle". Food by mouth is always the better option if you can handle it that way, and if you're eating now, I'm sure you'll be fine by the time your baby starts growing more.

Hi! Welcome-although none of us want to be hear. I was just going to post today about being jealous of fluffy preggos, but coming here and feeling guilty like I am "normal"...I think that is a part of hg. I second ensure if you can tolerate it. I have just done the regular kind, but it is often able to stay down when I can't manage anything else... Plus it's not as bad if it does come up as some things:|
I am a couple weeks ahead of annecan, my weight loss was not as severe- about 17 lbs. I gained no weight for the first 6 weeks of second tri, but quit losing( I first started getting treatment at 16w)... I start third tri Saturday and I think I am at about my pre-pregnancy weight.
I think it is a good sign that you are able to eat! It can just be such slow going!
Hang in there; you are strong!

Hi there.. I totally feel your anxiety. I am 20 weeks and still can't seem to gain weight. Some days I still lose weight. I am eating a couple small meals a day but, it hasn't seemed to be enough to help me move that scale in the right direction. I started this pregnancy at 172 pounds (a little heavy for my frame) and I am now at 148. I am currently weaning off of my Zofran pump and seem to have less of an appetite these last few days. I have also seemed to really be fighting with my energy level! Dang HG.. I have fought with low potassium levels and I think they might be down again. Going to see Doc tomorrow and have some blood drawn. Has anyone else had issues with their potassium levels and crazy low energy? I am sorry to vent today girls but, I am having a sad, poor me kinda day. We will all survive! This I know for sure. It is just hard some days to struggle so much....

I have a bad time with my potassium being low as well. Mine had gotten to where i start having heart palpatations and its quite scary. I ask the Dr. At my last appoint about having no energy and no stamina to even make it through a full day of just being awake. She said that even though im eating and feeling better i have lost so much iys going to takea long timeto recover. Also even though im eating some now that the baby is taking it all and im still not getting much if nothing at all still. Home health is wanting to start lowering my dose as well and im soooo scared. Im getting on average 36mg a day with it.. Which is more than the max dose your suppose to get and i dread being taken off. Even though im sick if wearing it and sick of this darn PICC hanging out of my arm. Its nice to talk to ppl who understand. My DH tries hard but its still hard to talk to him about everything and let alone expect him to understand!

Hi there,
Wow u sound like me... I always always so scared to fall pregnant I made sure I had so many things on school etc that I didn't allow myself time to think about it. I took my contraception pill religiously to make sure no suprises would happen. Yet when hubby wanted a baby... I cautiously agreed. Doc said it would take up to 3-4months for the pill to wear off in my system n not to be "disappointed". Yeah right. I got pregnant the 1st bloody try. We lost that baby but I fell pregnant straight after n then HG reared it's ugly head! Eh damn u HG. I too also get insanely jealous when I see the "fluffy" pregnant women- I have 2 of my hubbys family members pregnant only 3 weeks difference between us- yet they are "glowing" loving life, eating everything and constantly smiling. Grrrr. I grit my teeth n bare it but it annoys me to no end. So I feel ya! But in the end I feel we are actually fighting for our babies- we r so much stronger then we give ourselves credit for. I try to remind myself everyday (every hour?) that I'm doing this for a purpose. Feel better soon Hunni xox
