"maybe if you ate ull feel better?!" wow

Postby LittleCathy05 » Apr 12, 2012 6:06 pm

"Maybe if you actually ate something and forced it down you'll be better" whao. Wow!!! why didn't I think of that!??? Because here I was all day and night vomiting bc I really enjoy it. Bc I want attention and I wanna be super skinny. Geeze. My husbands family don't know anything I've realised. Like zero. No matter how much info they have they can't grasp the concept that I actually can't stop this? I'm vomiting blood bc my throat is ulcerated yet- its all in my head. Interesting. Anyone had this problem? I find it amazing how unsympathetic ppl can b- I haven't been out of my room in 2 months now. Yet they seem to still get offended that I can't go to family bbqs lol umm don't they know my toilet bowl and I have a strong and steady relationship that I cannot break. Geeze wish ppl would cut me some slack. I already feel guilty enough as it is. Hope everyone is feeling better! Xox

I had a friend tell me recently that she hopes she had what I had in her next pregnancy, so she could loose the weight from her first pregnancy. Um, yeah, starving isn't very fun.

It's so annoying when people think it's our poor habits that cause hg. I'm trying everything, I swear! Then there are people who say they think they had hg too because their ms was tough. If you weren't starving and you were able to gain a healthy weight, I highly doubt it.

I'm so sorry you're not only having to fight this painful hg war but also your husbands family. It's really hard for anyone to understand what we go through. I had quite a time myself trying to get people to see that it wasn't a choice. As tough as it may be though, if they aren't a part of your everyday or care of yourself and family, well bump them! Keep your head as high as you can, and know you're battle isn't in vain; there is a beautiful little person your creating in spite of all your pain and sacrifices. Has hubby said anything to them? If not maybe that is an option. Hang in there!!

Yeah, if you just focus and hold down that food, everything would be fine. WHATEVER!! Like the people that always told me "I kept some crackers by my bed so I could eat one before I got out of bed in the morning. That kept me from being nauseous." I responded typically with "it's hard to get a cracker from the bedroom when I woke up in the bathroom vomiting, but thanks for (not) being helpful." I sometimes put the "not" in if they were someone that should know better or knew me better than that.

We get "crackered" all the time. So much so, that there is an entire folder here devoted to things said like this. It is so frustrating and annoying to get some of those comments, especially when the things they suggest, you are trying VERY hard to do already. I have issues with "failure guilt" where I just feel guilty because I feel like I am failing. But I am not, and you are not. You are doing everything you can, and focus on the good things that you are doing. It will get better. Eventually, your HG might lessen, but even if it doesn't, when baby is born, you will be better. Hold on, when necessary to us here, and you will make it! :)

I'm so sorry they are saying things like that to you! I know it's easier said than done...but try not to worry about what they think. I finally realized that people just aren't going to get it no matter what...my own husband does not get it, and he lives with me, so why would his family? Your in-laws have no concept. They have no idea how STRONG you really are just to get through the day. Like the previous poster, I still get the "crackers in bed" suggestion and I no longer even bother to reply. I think HG is like living in a different universe! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Be proud of yourself for every hour that goes by! You can do it!

My girlfriend also said this to me and you know what I said to her "yeah let's hope you do get HG". although i would never wish it on anyone I was so mad at her for trivializing my illness like I'm doing this out of some crazy psychotic vain need to be skinny? She needed a slap to the back of the head. Sorry but it's true. With my first HG baby I was so starved for anything I lost most of my hair and people thought I had cancer. Also the "oh I had bad m/s too with my child" grrr that kills me. Yes you had morning sickness no doubt BUT NO you did not have HG bc HG isn't just "m/s" where crackers can help you bc u feel "queezy". if I had a dollar for everytime someone suggested ginger id be a bloody millionaire and I'd hire a surrogate for my next 6 kids and start up a football team!!!
My hubby is great and gets it... Holds my hair back, wipes the bile off my chin but I can also tell his over it too. And I don't blame him. HG makes or breaks you that's for sure! Xo

I can't stand it when people offer comments that just ARE NOT helpful, like my sister in law who said to me "I know how you feel, I nearly took a maxalon ONCE" mmmmm ok then! She then told me to eat FOODMENT fruit tingles.

They don't understand it at all, they think its just as bad as theirs but you just aren't coping as well as they did! WHATEVER. Next time one of them have a vomiting bug suggest that they eat something and maybe it might make them feel better! Then point out that you did that EVERY SINGLE DAY for months on end.

Unfortunately, I have no tolerance for vomiting bugs now, whenever my DH gets one I just say well now you know how I felt ever day for 7 months.

The best is when I hear about "horrible morning sickness" then they say, they never vomitted- but it was really bad. um, ok. I am glad to hear the your hubby is so supportive- I am very lucky as well. I can't imagine going through this without that kinda support!

This is just a classic example of why this forum is so important.

I felt crazy and alone and even weak before I discovered this site six years ago. We all need the support of the women here because the only people who understand are our Girlfriends (with a capital G) here.

Whenever people say that they're having a problem with fill-in-the-blank, I always say that when I was pregnant, which was the worst experience of my life, people made suggestions that I had obviously already tried. I try to drill in the analogy by saying, "So I definitely won't do that with your fill-in-the-blank problem."

Having HG three times (the second two were much better because I medicated and hydrated earlier) has made me a much more compassionate person.

I am truly sorry we all met here. One moment at a time. Come here often for support.

I can't count how many times I've heard that... I want to scream "OHHHH SO THAT EATING THING IS THE ANSWER TO MY PROBLEMS?! What a dumby I am!" I wish people understand that nibbling on saltines and sipping ginger ale is NOT going to fix what we are dealing with... This "disease" is so isolating!

this makes me want to shove a cracker right up their arse and say, "how's that? feel better yet!?"
what a brilliant cure for debilitating nausea and vomitting, oh just eat! that's like telling a cripple to "just walk".

 Imagine the look on their face if we actually did that. Hugs ladies. I have used so many lines to get my OH family to under stand but they never will. That's why we have each other here.

I feel the exact same way! I was explaining hg to one of my best girlfriends, and her response was, "yeah, I know, I had morning sickness too." are you kidding me!?! Really? Did u have to go to the hospital several times a week for hydration? Do u have a zofran pump sticking out of your gut!?! This is not morning sickness you jerk!!!

Sorry for the venting :) people just don't get it. And I guess we should be happy for them, that they were spared the chance to experience HG. You are not alone, although most of us here probably feel that way a lot.
