This was a fast, easy and perfect delivery.
I confirmed with my husband, sister and nurse if we were all on the same page for my birth plan and they said in unison, "Epidural!" I got an IV and pitocin drip, then my doctor broke my water and I got an epidural 15 minutes later. I wasn't feeling much pain, but enough to know my contractions were starting and I didn't want to feel much more! The anesthesiologist was hot and he was finished in about 10 minutes without any issues.
We hung out until about 4:30 and I was 3cm. At 5:00, I said, "I know this sounds silly, but I feel like I'm crowning." My nurse, who was a doll, said, "Well, I'll check you again!" and said, "You're there, let's call Dr. Hulton!" I didn't know my nurse told my doctor to run, but she was winded when she rushed into my room two minutes later. We took a picture of the monitor because the line from 3cm to 10cm in a half hour is almost a vertical line....
I started pushing effortlessly at 5:10 (didn't feel a thing) and Cole popped out at exactly 5:30. I look deliriously happy and smiley in all of the pictures...it's hysterical. Cole looks like Elliott. He has the cutest red-blonde wavy hair. He also latched on and started "practice" breast feeding within an hour. He's barely squawked all evening and is very mellow.
I feel fantastic. It's not just the adrenaline from having a baby, but I'm not nauseous, I don't have heartburn, I don't feel pelvic pressure or lack of circulation there, I can breathe, I feel like I could bend over if I wanted to and I don't have to pee...all those stinky things that pile on top of each other towards the end are gone. AAAAHHHHHHHH. I did eat every bite of dinner and then some snacks.
I really am feeling so wonderful and grateful for this instantaneous relief. I was very, very lucky on the medicated fluffy side of the HG scale, and there is still a night and day difference. The incredible change you are all going to feel once you deliver is on the way! I can't wait to be here to celebrate with you all when you cross the finish line.
