why was my post edited w/o my knowledge?

Postby JennyK » Nov 27, 2007 9:35 pm

This is in reference to this thread: http://forums.helpher.org/viewtopic.php?t=28708 I originally posted this msg there, but thought this might be a more appropriate spot for it.

I just have to ask. How is typing @$$ less offensive than typing the actual word? If someone would have asked me I would have edited my own post, rather than having someone edit it for me without even bothering to let me know. By the way, there are 265 posts with that word. Why was MINE edited?

Ah, let the potty-mouth answer! I don't honestly know if we've ever set protocol for language-use, so I think it comes down to personal preference. It seems a PM and this post got crossed, but I hope it's been sorted now.

To clarify the posting rules laid out a long time ago (2004) by Andy did specifically say "no profanity". We don't necessarily have a hard and fast rule but the things expressed at the time were "family friendly", IIRC. And it is required that you get a notification of any edits by a mod or admin. It's not a hard and fast rule and has certainly gone unheeded at times by oversight or lack of active moderators and such.

According to the FCC, the word "ass" is not profane or indecent.

 Good to know that!

Ok ladies have at it, you can use the word ass!

I was thinking the guidelines we could maybe consider would be like.. you know TV versus Cable kind of thing.

hehehehehe---sorry....just have to do this...hehehehe

ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass :P

jenny- in the wide world of things and the problems of the universe-- is this really an issue honey? i love you and PLEASE do not be offended--but you seem to be so defensive...just chill and let the love flow. I don't want you to always be so defensive and feel like things are always against you--let things roll off your shoulder...learn to say oh well and move on to positive things. Infact- according to the new rule...you should say "oh well, kiss my ass!" :hugs:

Don't worry, Jasmine, it's not consuming me. I just don't like anyone deciding what is acceptable for others to say or hear--in any context.
