Over 400 participants, but we need more!

Postby mfejzo » Nov 13, 2007 11:18 pm

Hi all. We hit the 400 mark---but we need 1,000 of you out there!!!) We really need everyone who has had HG to participate to find the biological cause of HG. If you are too sick to participate now, please have a caretaker email me (nvpstudy@usc.edu) with your contact email and put HG NOW in the subject line so I can get you in the system and contact you when you are feeling better. Please spread the word about the study by passing my email address out to your nurses and obstetricians and any friends with HG. You do not need to currently be pregnant to participate, you just need to have suffered from HG treated with iv hydration at least once. There is no cost or travel to participants living in the US. The survey can be filled out online and we will send you a kit in the mail to collect your saliva. This study is the first step to finding the cure for HG. Please help make a difference so the next generation doesn't have to suffer like we did.
Sincerely,
Marlena Schoenberg Fejzo, Ph.D, nvpstudy@usc.edu

Thank you! We need everyone who can to participate and spread the word (to their obs, nurses and friends) so we can get our 1,000 participants as fast as possible. Thank you to our 422 participants! I'll be emailing all of you shortly with the link to the survey.

Would like to help

Postby fullofsunshine » Mar 14, 2008 8:47 pm

I saw the video on youtube and would love to help. Not sure if I am a candidate because I never had to have a TPN. I had home hydration IV and a picc line with my first pregnancy, as well as many emergency visits. The second time just Zofran orally, and so far on my 3rd pregnancy (6 weeks) I have got by with Zofran, but I am sicker earlier this time, so it seems like this time might get as bad as or worse than the first.

Let me know if I can help. We need to get this figured out or I don't think I can have any more kids.
Had 2 Boys with HG and ready for baby number 3.

Hi. All you need is to have had iv hydration, not tpn, so it sounds like you will be eligible, but please send an email to my study email address at nvpstudy@usc.edu so I can send you the eligibility questions, etc.
Thanks,
Marlena

research

Postby ptfrog19 » Mar 17, 2008 8:40 pm

I had severe HG with my first pregnancy, and had picc line and tpn. I'd be willing to do this study. Let me know what you need from me. We will be ttc in July!

Hi. Tried to reach you from both my emails at
"mail01.syd.optusnet.com.au"
and both failed.
We will need to communicate by email initially to get you and your friend control enrolled. Do you have any other email address besides the one listed above that we can try?
Thank you!

I've suffered HG with both pregnancy's, I'm currantly 17 weeks pregnant with my second HG pregnancy and just getting over the worst of the sickies.
I never was on IV as I lived out in the boonies, and no-one told me I could get help! I didn't even know what HG was until a year after my son was born.
So I don't know if I qualify seeing as I didn't have an IV, but I must say that when I was well enough to hire a doctor, and actually go see her she was horrified that I wasn't in the hospital on IV. So if that helps any??
