Its been a bumpy almost 2 weeks...but I am thrilled to announce that Baby Samuel is here with us! I had a c-section on June 21st. He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20" long. The cord was wrapped tightly around his neck, so we had quite a bit of drama in the delivery room. His one minute apgar was only 4...it was an eternity waiting for him to cry. His 5 minute apgar, thankfully, was 9. They had to use the vacuum to get him out, he was nowhere near being ready to be born on his own, he was very high up and I still have bruises where my very large male doctor had to push on the fundus to scoot the baby down. It was ALL definitely worth it, Sammy is a sweet angel. I don't think our kids will ever realize the hell we went through to have them and how very much they are appreciated.
So, I had him on Monday, we went home on Thursday late afternoon (we got to laze in the "lap of luxury" for an extra day, Sam was jaundiced and my doc said I deserve the rest) and about an hour after we got home, my mom noticed Sammy having his first seizure. I still am in shock...I haven't really gone through the emotions yet, but we had to go immediately to the children's hospital (an hour and a half away) and spent the weekend there. His EEG (brain wave test, measures brain activity and seizures) was abnormal (a huge disappointment even though I knew it would be abnormal when I saw the seizures) and he has another scheduled for next Thursday. What do you say? I love him no matter what, and I am so glad he is here. He's so much fun to have around! Hugs to all..thanks so much for all of the support over the last hellish months...you girls are amazing!!!
