I am taking Zantac 75mg twice a day. THat is a very common one. You can even take the RX dose of 150mg or losec with your Dr following you. I am not sure about pepcid.

According to the page on medications it is safe to take. http://www.helpher.org/mothers/treatmen ... ations.php It is on there under reflux meds.

My doctor gave me Pepcid AC and it was wonderful! Helped the heartburn and the burning in my throat after vomitting. I think it made the puke less toxic.

I took Pepcid AC for a while and then it stopped working. The dc then told me to take prilosec. It takes a few days for it to work, so you might want to have some tums or something on hand, but wow! It works so well! He said you could start with two a day and then go down to one a day. I didn't go down to one a day until the baby was born. I tried, but it didn't work. Prilosec works differen than pepcid and made a huge difference for me.

My gasteroenterologist told me that it was safe to take while pregnant...he told me best to take first thing in the morning and one before bed. He says if you take it when you feel like you "need" it, it's too late and you won't realize the benefits. Preventative dosage is what he recommended.

Ever since then my first pregnancy was easier to bear and I've also incorporated it into my protocol in this second pregnancy as well.

Hi -
I dont think Pepcid will hurt. I used everything during my pg..pepcid, prilosaic, zantac and finally nexium helped me, so I ate a lot of pepcid adn nexium morning and evening! (I think Nexium was 40 mg, Sorry I do not remember the Pepcid strength)..This was prescribed by my gastroentrologist and approved by my ob, so I think these meds are safe.

Good Luck!

I had Pepcid twice a day through my PICC line for about two months and the Pepcid AC orally for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Dr. started me on a dosage that was the equivalent of the OTC. Around the start of the 3rd tri it stopped working so he increased the dosage to an amount available only by prescription. It worked great.

I was only allowed TUMS with my first two pregnancies and it was amazing the difference Pepcid made.

I had no ill effects from it.

I'm on OTC Pepcid, 1-2x a day, as needed. My OB recommended it when I was getting a weird reflux (metallic taste in my throat) from the Zofran.

The last two weeks, though, the heartburn has been worse & the Pepsid isn't helping that, so when I go in next week I'm going to ask her for something stronger.
