showing???

Postby sweetpea » Apr 02, 2012 4:43 pm

I think I'm starting to show!? How is that possible at 6 wks? I'm overweight to begin, but my lower abdomen has really started filling out. I was hoping to keep this pg secret for another month or so, but I'm not sure if that's going to be possible.

Geez, I"m jealous! I'm 12 weeks and not a thing. But I do not think you are actually "showing" yet--maybe bloated from all the GI weirdness of HG?

I thought the same thing from 6 weeks.. but I was just bloated. My guess is that you'll notice that belly come and go for another few weeks!

I started a little bit of a baby bump at 2 months, but I lost it soon after. I don't believe I was bloated, but I can't rule anything out. I started wearing maternity clothes then, but by 4 months, was back in my old, regular clothes until 6 months. I hope that doesn't discourage you.

You may be able to get away with wearing stretchy pants and such for a while. HUGS

Thanks Stephanie!

My pants are a little snug even though I've lost 5lbs. The weight is just shifting a little. With Faith my baby bump was massive - and she was 8lb 5 oz. With Grace, my 2nd, I barely showed and she was 6 lb 7oz. Maybe this will be another big one. Babies in my family are usually at least 9 lb and up to 12 lb.

I know it's not constipation, but it could partly be bloating b/c of all the new meds and the sudden lack of food or drink.

My weight shifted and there was some bloat early on, despite an 8lb loss by 7/8 weeks. The belly came and went and came back again. I'm now 15 weeks + and definitely require the maternity wear. Last week I noticed some deflation, though, lol. It's very confusing and sometimes alarming, but being I *just* had my ultrasound last week and baby measured ahead, I know all is well. Oh, and my OB told me the natural progesterone increases in pregnancy slow down one's disgestion causing quite a bit of bloat - are you still on progesterone supplements? Could be that, too. I find Zofran causes the same bloat, as well.

My friend (a fluffy, but a dear...not a crackerer at all) is pregnant with her sixth kid right now. She had to wear maternity clothes almost instantly. She was frustrated because she was like how on earth do I need maternity pants when I haven't even gained weight yet? My guess is it's muscle memory. After the first couple, I think our bodies just no what to do and jump start the bump the second the pregnancy hormones show up. LOL

I've had to switch to my maternity pants already! Some of my other pants were just getting too tight in my lower abdomen. I know it's really early, but I guess it's not too surprising considering I'm very short-waisted and pg w/ twins!
