Gabby Kat's Birth Story

Postby kelsymama » Mar 29, 2006 5:28 pm

Gabriella Katherine came into this world on March 23, 2006 at 8:43 in the morning. I went into labor on the 22nd at about 3 in the morning. The contractions were only 5-6 min apart so I didn't go to the hospital. Later that afternoon I went to my OB for my 38 week check up and she said I was dialated to a 2 and effacted 90%. SHe said I would be having my baby in 24-48 hours and to come back when I couldn't stand the pain. Well, 9 pm, right as LOST was starting, I couldn't take it any more. DH and I packed up the car and headed for L&D. When we got there, they checked me and I was dialated to a 3, fully effaced, with contractions coming strong (BACK LABOR< AHHHHHHHH!!!!!) every 2-3 minutes. After about 2 hours I was able to have an epi. I was leaking fluids and they broke my water. It was really funny, it shot out and soaked the Dr. The whole side of her leg was soaked. After the epi, labor was great. I was dialated to a 9 and the sick feeling I got during transition was aweful. At about 5 in the morning I was dialated to a 10 but had no urge to push. The nurses let me sleep for another 3 hours before I had to start pushing. At 8:30 the Dr. came in and I started to push. By 8:43 my beautiful baby girl was crying on my chest. She was 6lbs 13 oz and 18 inches.

The HG didn't go away immediately. I was still feeling sick and it has taken about a week to get my apitite back. I think my body has to relearn how to eat. But I had a *FOODMENT* Big Mac for the first time in 9 months abd it was amazing. I think I may have Taco Bell for lunch today. I just really want to eat all of the foods I couldn't eat while I was pregnant.

One plus to HG (I know there aren't many) is that I don't look like I just gave birth to a baby. All of the L&D nurses told me how jealous they were that I looked soo skinny. That is until they found out I puked for 9 months straight. At least this means I may be in a bikini by this summer. LOL

Congratulations on the new little girl! I'm glad the HG is gone now. Mine wasn't instantly gone either, but but but, was much better and I could at least eat again.

Now, about the bikini....heh, be careful with the diet cuz I know I spent 9 months ... no.. a full year letting myself pack the pounds BACK on from making up for lost food. But I hear you on the McD's! I think I HAD to try every restuarant I couldn't eat at while pregnant!
