Where you a vomiter as a child?

Postby Lil7Deb » Feb 20, 2005 1:55 am

Did you have a weak stomach as a child?
Would you say you vomited more then your peers, siblings etc?

I would say that I had a weak stomach as a child. If anyone got sick around me I was gauranteed to vomit. I had my own personal vomit basin in our house it was so frequent.

Nope, stomach of steel. I'd throw up if I had some sort of stomach virus, but that was infrequent. Aside from a few illnesses, I don't think I ever really vomited until I got pregnant.

I just can't handle seeing other people vomit, or hear it!! Sometimes smells trigger it when I'm not pg but not as often. My family is surprised that I chose to be a nurse. But it's mostly the vomiting that bothers me the most

Not sure how to vote

I always struggled with motion sickness and would vomit when travelling any distance, whether car, train, or plane. But otherwise tended not to vomit much at all...colicy baby but in my memory, not much of a puker as a child. Even with the HG, I tended to avoid eating/drinking to keep the puking down as opposed to eating then puking :P .

I know I posted earlier, but I wanted to add that I also have a very strong gag reflex. Can't tolerate turtle necks or anything remotely tight around my neck, I just start to gag. I also have a prob getting x-rays or impressions at the dentist (not a pretty site  )

I, like Pamela, have an iron stomach when I'm not pregnant, and I always have.

I have always had motion sickness very easy. As a kid, I was always sick in the car or on rides. As an adult I can't even ride on a swing without being nauseas.

I do have an iron stomach when it comes to food however - I've never been one to have heartburn or any kind of reaction to food.

I know this post is old, but I like answering the poll questions.

Anyway, yes, I was a puker even as a kid, my gag reflex has always been super sensitive.

Let's just say I was always the projectile kid in my class and you wouldn't want to sit in front of me.

I think I just got the usual stomach bugs as a child. But I often vomited with my period (from age 11) and in the mornings if I got out of bed before my body was ready. So it was probably worse as a teenager.

I had to vote "other" as I was fine until I went to America on holiday when I was 12 (so I blame you Americans...lol J/K) The day before we came home, we were there for a month and travelled all over, I got a tummy bug. When we got home and I'd got over the tummy bug, anything and everything would make my stomach crawl. I couldn't eat hardly anything sweet, even now I am more of a savoury person as sweet things make me feel yucky after a few mouthfulls. I can only eat one choc bar at a time or I feel sick.

I wasn't a big vomitter, but I was SO sensitive to food textures. I have so many memories of being forced to sit at the table and deal with foods that made me gag with every movement of the food in my mouth. This has left me with serious food aversions to this day - yet ironically I only ever feel like a fussy eater when my mother is doing the cooking, which is mostly due to the way she deals with the foods that she cooks and the textures those foods end up with.
