BREASTFEEDING ?

Postby HGx3 » Jan 21, 2005 12:09 am

I am just curious about this one, so after you vote, please give a brief description of your situation

With all 3 children, my period has returned around the 7 mth mark, but I have heard of some not coming back for a year, and if extended bf occurs, some cycles are supressed for up to TWO YEARS>>>WOW!!!!!

Hi Lisa,

I'm like you in that I got my period 7 months after delivering Luke. Well, it was more like spotting and with a more "normal" period returning the following month. For me, I think it had something to do with introducing solids at 6 months. I wasn't breastfeeding as much from that point on as my little boy loved his food! Lol, and now he's a picky toddler!

Lisa,

My period returned with my daughter at 10 months pp and I breastfed for 8 months. With my son who nursed for 20 months my period resumed at 13 months. Both times there were at least 2 or 3 months of pretty irregular cycles before things returned to normal.
Hugs,

I got mine at about 4 months, but I was breastfeeding untill 11 months. I had started taking the mini-pill for birth control at about 6 wks post-partum. I don't know if that had anything to do with it...?

I got my period back at 6wkspp. I had it every month after that on a normal 28 day cycle. (norm for me).

I successfully b/fed my DD until she was 2. We weaned as we got pregnant with our 2nd child.

Lisa, I'm the other lucky one that got it early. About 7 weeks postpartum and basically regular after that. A baby that nursed every 2 hours, no supplementing, no pacifiers, no pills. Not fair.
After I lost my first baby, I bled for 6 months straight, every day, then had one normal month, concieved the next, started bleeding at about 4 weeks pg and on and off (mostly on) until about 20 weeks, delivered at 35 weeks. I was really looking foreward to extending that brief break with bf. HA!!!!! Went out the window almost as fast as my plans for an enjoyable, uncomplicated pg.
Loved the bf though, and still going.

Hey Aimee!
I actually wanted to post/poll this b/c I also extended nursed our dd til 18m, until I got pg w ds3(I was only able to nurse ds1 until he was 7mths b/c I got pg with dd at 6mthspp). She nursed exclusively until 9 mths, and my period still returned prior to her ever starting solids.
Now, Josh is 8mths and still nurses every 2 hours, and my period has been back 2 cycles now GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Iagree, you got rooked with the period returning, but how wonderful that Aaron is still nursing, so sweet!!
Huge Hugs,
Lisa

I couldn't vote either?

But, I have a 8 month old daughter who I breastfed exclusively for 6 months before introducing solids and who I hope will want to keep breastfeeding for a while longer becuase I LOVE IT! It is such a wonderful bonding time for us and I am so thankful that she took to it so well. I still have not had my period return...

Also couldn't vote...

My post-natal bleed went constantly for 3 months, then I had 3 weeks off and my period returned at 4 months, continuing in my normal cycle from then on.

I fed Heather up to 13 months.
