Everyone tells me to eat ginger (these are non-HGers, obviously). Can't stand the stuff! My DH is downstairs cooking up some veggies, and it's clear to me that he's added ginger--he said it was only a little...smells caustic to me! I'm not eating it!
Ginger is the one lasting aversion I have from HG and I don't think I'll ever be able to stand it again. Just the smell makes my stomach turn. I tried drinking ginger tea in the first trimester and it just made me sick. Tried the candies too and they were awful. Now I can't even stand gingerale.
Ok, ok...lol I'm teasing , yeah I think I'll leave it a while before I try eating it again!

Don't know why ginger, crackers, and seabands are so exciting to normals who have no clue about HG, but still these folks yammer on about ginger....ugh.
I tired every form of it in my first pregnancy (HG not diagnosed until 10 weeks), ginger tea, ginger biscuits, ginger ale, ginger beer, ginger tablets etc etc and now I heave at the thought of it!
I have it when people say to me "have you tried any GINGER ???", like taking a quick nip of ginger ale would be the magic cure all for the worst nausea in the world...........
At least with this pregnancy (8.5weeks) I don't have to put myself through the daily ginger ritual and can go straight to the zofran!
Angela, I am with you. My mom sucks on ginger candy all day because it calms her belly. The second I dont feels good, she's offering themtoo me. EWWWW!!!
When I was pg with Sage I forced ginger tea (fresh too) because it was my only option. Well, forced it through 2 IVs before I realized it was making me worse! YUCK! Still cant stand the stuff, I dont even like to see itin the grocery store!
The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child.
Seriously... 'Nuf said. But giner ale, REALLY REALLY cold did help me to get through the day if I was totally desperate. Can't stand the stuff now though and my daughter is 4 and a half.
If you're nauseous and you know it clap your hands... (only do it really really slowly and quietly so you don't throw up from the movement and only after you've removed them from your eyes to hide the sight of food)
Same here. I haven't been able to eat ginger again since first pregnancy in 2008. Only Ginger Ale can do, but it has do be the Schwepps brand or it won't do...
It's now been over 7 years since my experience of ginger and I still can't even drink ginger ale. I don't even like to look at it in the grocery store.
Strangely enough, ginger used to be a great thing for me when I got nauseous with my periods but during that first trimester just the thought of it make me sick!
Now the sickness is less severe I am actually able to drink a bit of ginger ale (has to be ice cold) or hot water with fresh ginger cut into it, but only on certain days and it is very hit and miss still. In fact, I used to only ever drink hot drinks and cold drinks would turn my stomach, but during the pregnancy it has mostly been the other way around... weird!
Glad other HGers have the same problem with ginger as this horrible for me and even before pg it would make me gag because of the spice I think. I hate it when people tell me I should take it because it drives me crazy to even think of it. Another weird thing is that with HG I tolerate fake ginger ale, but when DH bought me the real stuff it made it worst.

Loved Ginger: Gingerbread, Gingersnaps, Ginger Ale, Pickled Ginger on sushi... Then I got HG. Tried desperately to eat and drink the magic spice. Frankly, I couldn't have said it better:

"Caustic" that is literally the sense I get from it. Well said, HG sister.
