UK book with chapter on HG

Postby Natalie » Feb 25, 2007 11:53 am

This book called 'Make Me a Baby: The Essential Guide to Conception, Pregnancy and Birth' is coming out in the UK in April and has a chapter on HG in it. You can pre-order it now from here... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Baby-Essen ... F8&s=books

The book accompanies a TV series of the same title which will be on BBC3 next month and on BBC2 later in in the year. One of the ladies in the series has HG.

Wow, a whole chapter on HG is great! Better than a sentence, which is what it usually gets, if even that. So is the book good? Does it do HG justice?

Is there any news on when this will be on. I checked the listings for bbc3 today and at 9pm there was something on about balding men! I have had a look at whats coming up for the next few days and can't find anything. Does anybody know what the show will be called?

Hiya

Quick reminder - Make Me A Baby is on Thursday 21 June at 9pm on BBC3.

The lady with HG was Barbara, and there is a two page case study on her. Although HG occurs in approx 1% of cases, in the MMAB study there were two women who suffered from it - I was the other one!!

Keep an eye out for me - I'm the larger lady with the pink tshirt with a city skyline on it...

I watched a bit of it (usually during the breaks of big brother) but couldn't really get into it. I think I will try and watch it again when it is repeated later in the year.

Natalie, as you watched it, what did you think of it?

Erm... well actually I did get quite into the prog. as a whole but then I know Simon so that may have made a difference as to why I stuck it out. The stories of infertility really got me thinking about how blessed I am.

Unfortunately, the lady who had HG wasn't shown at her worst but her being functional so I don't think people were able to get a full picture of how sick she had been and how bad HG can be. She did say how she had been in and out of hospital on IVs etc... but even that doesn't convey the misery and debilitating nature of HG. Maybe it is the same with any programme / article.

At the very least, it got mentioned on tv so helped to raise the profile a bit.
