Anyone have a tubal AND have DH get a V?

Postby abbyjinxy » Jun 20, 2011 12:20 pm

We are 100% done after this baby.
100%

I have my first OB appointment tomorrow (I am a little over 7 weeks), and plan to ask him about getting a tubal ligation when I have my scheduled CS.

I have been reading a lot online- and have heard a lot of stories about failed tubals. I know it is rare. DH said he would be willing to get a vasectomy in addition to my tubal. One of DHs co-workers had a vasectomy (and went in for the follow up) and his wife got pregnant. We want to make sure we cover all bases here. Is this excessive- LOL?!

I am going to ask my OBs opinion, but I thought I would see if anyone else has had this done?
Mommy to:
Katherine- Born 11/10/06 (HG)
Charles- Born 10/7/09 (No HG)

Pregnant with #3- due February 5th. C/S will be scheduled the week before.

We're still talking about DH getting the big V. He is still all for it. I had the tubal done during my c-section. According to my OB, it's least likely to fail when done during the c-section. I totally understand wanting double coverage :-)

My husband's aunt found she was pregnant with her third son six months after her tubal. That's one of the main reasons we're still wanting my DH to get his V. We backed off on going forward just a little bit after our neighbor had his V done and had all kinds of side-effects. He was in that 1% who bleed real bad and swell up for weeks from it category. Kind of scared both of us even though we know a bunch of guys who had no issues whatsoever with theirs. When you know you're done and you don't want any surprises, it makes sense to double up. Good luck with your decision making.

I had my tubes tied and my husband got a vasectomy.

I'm 38 and have three kids (AND HG!), so I'm done.

That is our plan. He is getting his vasectomy done while I'm still pregnant and once I have recovered from this pregnancy I'll go in and have a TL.

To be absolutely sure that this doesn't happen again. lol
