Hello, all. It's been years since I've been here, but I need some BTDT advice.
I got pregnant with my daughter in 2003. I had HG then, but it was undiagnosed. I kept getting poo-pooed by my doctor as having "morning sickness", which as you all know too well, was relentless, 27/4 vomiting. :bummer: Thankfully, she was a healthy girl (born at 37w1d, 6 lbs 15 oz).
After a long battle with infertility, we got pregnant with twins in 2007. I had a new OB team at that time, and told him up front about what had happened in my first pregnancy. As soon as I started getting sick, my primary OB was proactive and I had a PICC line by about 13 weeks. I was so terribly sick, but the PICC line got me through. It was removed at 28 weeks, and though I was still queasy, I wasn't constantly vomiting. I carried my boys to 31 weeks when my placenta previa ruptured and they were delivered. Despite my HG, they were healthy weights (for 31 weekers) at 3 lbs 11 oz and 4 lbs 7 oz.
Yesterday, I learned that I am (surprise!) pregnant again. We are over-the-moon elated. After years of infertility, we assumed we were done. We took the "if it happens, it happens" approach, but truly never thought it would happen.
I am EITHER 4w2d or possibly 8w1d pg (unsure if what I thought was LMP really was). IF I am 8w1d, I have hope... I was always sick by 5 weeks with my others.
I am hoping and praying I don't get HG this time. But I feel like my chances of escaping it are slim to none. The only thing I have going for me is I am in way better physical shape now than I was with my other two pregnancies. I joined a gym a year ago, lost almost 30 pounds and regularly do Zumba. I plan to continue through this pg.
What has your experience been with subsequent pregnancies? Was the HG better? Worse?
