Drs apt today

Postby krsweetpea » Jun 19, 2012 4:04 pm

I had my check up today and got concerning news. Baby's heart rate was a bit too high considering she wasn't moving tons at the moment. Dr attributes it to me being dehydrated. This is so disappointing because I have thought I was doing pretty good. I haven't vomited in a while and I have been drinking though the nausea has been bad. I wasn't dehydrated enough for her to want me to go get fluids, but it is awful to realize I'm not getting enough in for baby not to be stressed. I'm going to give oral fluids a little more time. I'll track my input again and if it doesn't increase I guess I'll head in for iv fluids.

Gahh I hate hg so much. Even when it backs off it's a beast... Despite my struggles with feeling bonded; I would be beside myself if anything happened.

Is the doc doing an AFI check? (Aminiotic fluid index) to see how your amniotic levels are?

Hope you can stay hydrated, but if not, just get your doc to send you to the infusion centre/outpatients with a "prescription" for fluids.

Good luck

No afi yet. I still have standing orders for fluids so if I don't see an uptick in my fluid intake all I have to do is call the clinic for an appointment.

Thanks for the reply and concern. I am also going to re-up my zofran to see if it helps the nausea so I can stay hydrated better... Of course it would also be nice if baby girl would just decide to come on soon.

I'd say go in for fluids even if you're only 'mildly' dehydrated! You don't need to get to a super bad point before seeking help, that's for sure!

Hope things improve and you feel better

Hugs hun, that sounds scary :( I had a few similar issues, bub wasn't moving enough and the CTGs didn't look great, but mine turned out to be caused by too much amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios). It was so scary, but she's here now and perfect. I hope the zofran helps you up your hydration levels. How much longer do you have to go?

I technically have three weeks until my due date and possibly up to one week after it-although at this point I'm doubting they'll let me go that far over. I was another cm dilated(so 3) so I hope I'll go into labor on my own in the next week or so.

I'm a bit less scared as I did manage to drink a lot yesterday and she moved around normally. Also my hubby listened to her heartbeat and timed it as best he could with a metronome and estimated a reasonable heartbeat in the 150's to 160's when she was being quieter.

I'm going to pay close attention to her movement today and if it seems off I'm calling the dr.

Sounds like a sensible approach. I was having CTGs every couple of days to check on bub, sometimes I felt like I was just being neurotic and paranoid, but better too much monitoring than not enough I say. If you're a 3 already tho, bub might be here fairly soon!
