blood type

Postby sheilab » Aug 07, 2012 11:25 am

I've suffered from HG in 2 pregnancies. I'm just wondering does anyone know if blood type has anything to do with suffering from HG? For example, i'm rhesus negative and my boyfriend is rhesus positive. My daughter is rhesus negative, 2nd baby due in 3wks so dont know blood type yet.

I know I also have RH negative blood (A negative). That would be interesting if there were a correlation.....

I was wondering the exact same thing!!! My first pg I had HG ans a ton of other problems. I am RH neg. Both of my children have been negative, however, baby #2 was blood type O-neg. I didn't have any issues at all with him. Not even really ms. The pregnancy was picture perfect, leading me to think I would be fine getting pg again. I am now 17weeks and sick as a dog. I started to wonder what blood type this baby will be & wondered if there may be a correlation.

I was wondering the same and have been trying to do some research but not found a lot yet. I am also Rh negative. I am a FTM and we are not sure what blood group my husband is.

I'm Rh- as well, DH is + as is DD. I'm curious now about this baby.
DD 05/2010 - moderate HG 7-20 weeks (phenegran, IV fluids/zofran), mild HG 20-birth, lost 11% bodyweight
DS 05/2013 - mild HG 6 weeks - 35 weeks (zofran, zantac, B6, tums, colace), MS 35-birth (zofran as needed), lost 7% bodyweight

Tubal ligation following the birth of DS.

My perfect family was worth every minute.

Im also Rh - negative. With the blood type O negative. I found out with my first born (which the pregnancy was a breeze) and they gave me a shot for it right away. I remember them saying any time that I spot, I need the shot bc if the babies blood mixes with mine, it will make future pregnancies not so fun. That my body will see the baby as something foreign and attack. I just wonder if being Rh - plays a role in this? Im sure if this baby was O negative as well, id probably be just fine bc there will be no difference.

My mom had HG with me and I'm Rh-, not sure what she is though. I was thinking about that the other night and wanted to add it to this thread.

i'm A+ and whichever of the Rh factors is more common and problem-free. is that positive?
i doubt it has to do with blood type, or HG would be more widespread, don't you think?
just call me Mighty Mom. (mighty what i'm not gonna say.)

DS New Year's Eve, 2011 HG 5-39w
